How important is this GST? What is at stake and what can we expect from it? What role can non-state actors play in the process?

In December 2023, COP28 will be the time for countries to assess the « collective progress » achieved in the first-ever Global Stocktake (GST), as provided for in Article 14 of the Paris Agreement. The level of commitments is still deemed insufficient to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement. No country is aligned with a trajectory of limited warming of 1.5°C.
