In the United Republic of Tanzania, a forest management policy is being developed involving local communities. This is the Yaeda valley project, which involves the Hadza community and contributes to achieving 12 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a carbon offset scheme. NGOs are at the origin of this initiative, which aims to restore land rights to the Hadza, and also protect forests from poachers and encroaching agriculture.
