The African Society of Eco-Materials (ECOMAT-AFRICA) is organizing the 4th African Conference on Eco-Materials, CEMA 2026, which will be held from June 17 to 19, 2026, in Yaoundé, Cameroon. This major scientific event has the overarching theme “Nature in Service of Environmental and Societal Transitions” and aims to bring together actors from research, education, and innovation to address current challenges related to sustainable materials.

The conference will focus particularly on the valorization of local materials and bio-based eco-materials, such as plant, animal, or mineral fibers and particles, wood, earth, and stone, as well as on issues of eco-design, recycling, reuse, and the development of environmentally friendly products.

Objectives of CEMA 2026:

• Create a space for exchange and reflection among researchers from diverse disciplines (chemistry, biology, materials, mechanics, civil engineering, food sciences, geology, etc.).

• Promote interdisciplinary synergies to develop resilience and adaptation solutions in response to climate and environmental challenges.

• Establish a platform of expertise and advisory services to support research, technology transfer, and local economic development around eco-materials.

Conférence program includes:

• Thematic conference sessions covering both fundamental and applied research.

• Poster sessions, with awards for the best contributions.

• Plenary lectures and roundtables bringing together renowned experts.

• Social and networking events, such as a gala and excursions, to encourage dialogue and interaction among participants.
