Strengthening decentralised cooperation for adaptation
Description
Local governments in Europe and Africa are facing increasingly intense weather events and their wide-ranging social and environmental impacts, which threaten to disrupt the delivery of essential services and territorial planning policies. Given these shared challenges, cooperation between local authorities from both continents serves as a platform for peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, pooling efforts and ideas, and fostering solidarity.
Building on concrete experiences from internationally engaged local governments, this workshop will highlight the potential of decentralized cooperation as a key tool for climate adaptation. Through firsthand accounts, participants will discuss key principles meant to scale up local adaptation efforts, thus strengthening advocacy for the recognition of the crucial role of local governments and their partnerships.
