The Netherlands • Long-term strategies of local authorities to phase out fossil fuels in heating

In the Netherlands, local authorities play an essential role in strategic planning for the decarbonisation of the built environment. Increasing earthquale intensity in the natural gas-rich Groningen province, and the signing of the Paris Agreement, pushed the government to commit to heating all buildings without fossil fuels by 2050.
