PRESERVER2
The ambition of Aix-Marseille University's ITEM is to generate and disseminate new knowledge, shape talent and combine teaching and research to support the environmental transition.

Overview of the project
The PRESERVER2 project, carried out in partnership with the Aix-Marseille Provence metropolitan area, targets emerging pollutants in water (PFAS, PAHs, ETMMs), their combined effects and treatment solutions for wastewater treatment plants. It is based on a One Health approach to better anticipate health and environmental risks.
Reduce health and environmental risks by managing and reusing treated wastewater.
Ongoing research
01/09/2025 - 31/12/29
Detection of over 100 candidate molecules with endocrine disrupting properties.
Development of a ‘non-targeted’ chemical analysis of water using UPLC-MS/MS (Sciex QqTrap 7500+) to detect traces of pollutants. At the same time, implementation of bioassays to model the toxic effects of complex mixtures.
It is not yet financed

The ambition of Aix-Marseille University’s ITEM is to generate and disseminate new knowledge, shape talent and combine teaching and research to bring about the environmental transition, embodying a more responsible and sustainable society. It has 3 major challenges: the analysis of social and environmental changes, the rationalisation of resources to limit contamination and optimise their use, and the resilience of societies in the face of environmental risks. Its strength lies in the fact that it tackles these crucial issues using a resolutely cross-disciplinary approach that overcomes the fragmentation of knowledge and paves the way for the development of solutions and changes in practices and uses that are capable of responding to global change.
