Train, Share Knowledge, Professionalize: Skills at the Heart of the Transformation of Transport Professions in Africa

Pitch

The transformation of mobility systems in major African cities is creating new skills needs, with the development of electromobility, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, the digitalization of operations and maintenance, as well as metro projects.

In Abidjan, as in many other major cities, this transformation requires anticipating the jobs of tomorrow, adapting training programmes and strengthening local capacities to sustainably support these new transport systems.

Infrastructure and new mobility systems can only deliver their full benefits if the skills required for their design, operation and maintenance are available locally. How can skills transfer, vocational training and knowledge sharing be organized to sustainably support the transformation of transport systems in Africa?
