Week for Sustainable Mobility and Climate 2022

Rail Mass Transit

Rail Mass Transit

Every emerging metropolis plans to be equipped with a rail transport system at some point in its development. This is the result of the expansion of travel flows, which has become incompatible with road traffic on the one hand, and, on the other, allows the economic profitability of dedicated infrastructure and a technically complex and capital-intensive system to be crossed.

Mass transit for metropolises is the sustainable solution par excellence: long-term investment in decarbonized transport with optimized energy performance. However, the construction and operation of rail networks are particularly complex.

This session will address the issues of financing, governance, training, and integration into urban planning.
