Innovation, Mobility and Climate Adaptation: Employment Opportunities in the Mobility Sector in Africa
Description
Africa faces major challenges related to climate change, particularly in the mobility and employment sectors. According to the World Bank’s 2025 report, 260 million jobs are projected to be lost by 2050 in low- and middle-income countries, while investments in climate resilience could create up to 150 million “good jobs” in green sectors. The transition to sustainable mobility represents an opportunity for industrial transformation in Africa, provided that models are reimagined and value chains are controlled. Sustainable mobility is also a key driver for climate adaptation and local job creation.
The workshop’s objective is:
- to understand the training challenges associated with sustainable mobility jobs
- to explore business models centered on usage and circularity
- to share examples of training on climate issues and adaptation in the transportation sector
.The workshop is co-organized by the Wesisah Foundation, which promotes environmental stewardship, knowledge-based leadership, and collective intelligence in Africa.
