Thesis on Waste Management in the Souss Massa Region

This project carried by the University of Ibn Zohr aims to contribute to the protection of water resources (hydro-informatics) and the selection of an optimal site for a new landfill.

An initiative of University of Ibn Zohr

Overview of the project

My thesis subject:

Waste management in the Souss Massa region, the impact of landfills on the environment, and application of GIS in the choice of a favourable site for the installation of a new controlled landfill. This study will focus on the analysis of the current landfill situation, consisting of setting up a GIS which allows to evaluate the vulnerability of the groundwater around the Tamlaste landfill (nature of the soil, study of the permeability, study of the fracturing, topography, etc.), the elaboration of a groundwater vulnerability map, and the choice of the future controlled landfill site, based on a multi-criteria study.

Objective

Overall objective: Contribute to the protection of water resources (hydro-informatics) and the selection of an optimal site for a new landfill. Sub-objective 1: Assessment of groundwater vulnerability. Sub-objective 2: Selection of a site for a new landfill.
