Solar Energy for Rural Development (SERD)

ETM is a young social enterprise working in the field of sustainable development in rural areas of Mali,

An initiative of ECOTECH MALI S.A.R.L

Overview of the project

The aim of the project is to install a 60 kW solar array that will power a production line (solar pump), a processing line (solar mill), a preservation line (solar cold room) and a water supply line (WATA technology), and then supply electricity to 30 to 50 families.
Part of the electricity will be direct current, for the DC appliance, and the other part will be alternating current.
The 1st village to benefit from the project is KONODIMINI in the Ségou region.
The ennos 2HP solar pump, with a capacity of 33 m3 /h, will give farmers easy access to water,
It will be handed over to a farmers’ organisation (OP) and will be fitted out by creating water points in strategic areas of the field. These water points will be supplied by the pump.
The cold room, with a volume of 20m3, will enable farmers to preserve their crops (fruit and vegetables) over a long period. It will be managed by ETM and farmers’ use of the room will be conditional on payment of the quantity of produce per kg.

Objective

The main aim of the project is to give the population in these areas access to electricity and water and to develop agriculture using solar energy.
