Factsheets and videos were co-produced with elected officials, civil servants, and members of civil society in both France and Cameroon. A “Resilience Compass” was developed specifically for the municipality of Loos-en-Gohelle. In Yaoundé 6, a water agency was established with an inclusive governance model. A citizen support network and a 30-member mirror group were launched to strengthen community engagement. Dissemination events were held, notably at TEPOS and Africités. Over the course of two years, 80 participants were actively involved in the initiative.

Overview of the project

Resilient Cities is a cooperation program between Loos-en-Gohelle (France) and Yaoundé 6 (Cameroon), centered around concrete projects: a Water Agency in Yaoundé and a Resilience Compass in Loos.
Based on peer-to-peer exchange, it strengthens local capacities, adapts transition methods to the African context, and opens an international dialogue on resilience and colonial legacies.
Strengthen reciprocal cooperation between Yaoundé 6 and Loos-en-Gohelle to drive change toward resilience and develop a shared framework for action.

Draw inspiration from Yaoundé’s experience to renew adaptation strategies in France. Rethink territorial governance by fostering cooperation between elected officials, technical experts, civil society, and traditional authorities. Rely on the Water Agency in Yaoundé 6 as a driver of mobilization, and develop a Resilience Compass in Loos-en-Gohelle. Foster dialogue between collective intelligence and local knowledge at the heart of the projects. Co-construct a shared framework for action on adaptation and resilience at the international level.
Funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), ADEME, and the Artois-Picardie Water Agency.
