Productive Uses of Solar Energy

The objective of the project Productive Uses of Solar Energy carried by GRET is to support the development of entrepreneurship of rural actors through the solarization of their economic activities.

An initiative of ONG GRET

Overview of the project

In rural Senegal, access to energy is often an obstacle to the development of entrepreneurship. It is an additional financial burden that, if absent or unreliable, limits production and the diversification of activities.

Gret supports the solarization of economic activities in order to sustain their consolidation or development.

This pilot project allows the evaluation of the technical and economic relevance of solar energy on local economic development. A study carried out within the framework of this project has identified green jobs in the Casamance region and evaluated the potential for scaling up the solarization project of local economic activities.

Objective

The objective of the project is to support the development of entrepreneurship of rural actors through the solarization of their economic activities.
