Overview of the project

The Koutammakou preservation project, run by the CVB and the World Monuments Fund, aims to strengthen the resilience of communities and protect their heritage. It includes the creation of 15 CIECs, 24 school workcamps, 20 educational workshops and reforestation initiatives.

Objective

The aim of the project is to preserve the cultural landscape of Koutammakou by developing micro-enterprises for women, passing on traditional knowledge and strengthening the Batammariba's climate resilience.

Quantitative results

The project has raised awareness among 2,599 schoolchildren, created 15 women’s cooperatives and restored 16 Sikien. Eight new constructions involved 120 craftsmen and 160 women. Finally, 8 hectares have been reforested with 3,200 trees.

Qualitative results

The project has strengthened the transmission of knowledge, structured 15 local cooperatives, reforested 8 hectares and raised awareness of eco-construction among schoolchildren, thereby contributing to community resilience.
