Overview of the project
Awareness about energy poverty is growing across Europe. Energy Poverty Advisory Hub, the leading EU initiative run by the European Commission at the request of the European Parliament, is a collaborative network of stakeholders aiming to eradicate energy poverty and accelerate the just energy transition of European local governments. Our mission is to be the centre of energy poverty expertise in Europe for local governments and all stakeholders interested in taking action to combat energy poverty in Europe.
Building on the EU Energy Poverty Observatory legacy, the EPAH adapts an action-based approach by creating a space for collaboration and exchange for local and regional governments planning a variety of measures to tackle energy poverty in the pursuit of a just and fair transition.

EPAH ATLAS features 200+ cases. The ATLAS is the online database that gives access to a collection of projects and measures addressing energy poverty across the world.
The report “Tackling energy poverty through local actions ‒ Inspiring cases from across Europe” available in 24 languages. It displays inspirational cases of how energy poverty can be alleviated at the local level.
The first call for technical assistance is currently open until 1st March 2022.
The first online course open to all. The course is available in English with subtitles in Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish.
The Launch Event of EPAH took place in November 2021 bringing together EU, national and local stakeholders to discuss how EU policies and EPAH are stepping up energy poverty alleviation efforts. More than 500 participants joined the event. A later satisfaction survey showed that participants found the content and organisation of the event relevant, balanced and useful by approximately 97%.
The project is fully funded by the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission.

Ongoing activities are:

- Direct support: The call for local governments offers the opportunity to submit request for technical assistance and receive support in the process of tackling energy poverty. A help-desk provides access to information to anyone interested.
- Learning material: The Introduction to energy poverty and the EPAH provides an overview of energy poverty from a practical–political perspective

Additionally, it involves 7 national organisations working together with the EPAH consortium to support the initiative at their local level: Anatoliki (Greece), Ashoka (Romania), 3 Counties Energy Agency (3CEA) (Ireland), Cyprus Energy Agency (CEA) (Cyprus), DOOR (Society for Sustainable Development Design) (Croatia), Polish Network of Energy Cities (Poland), Sofia Energy Center (Bulgaria).
