Theatre of New Narratives is a project co-led by Monarch Intelligence and Kintribe, combining role-play, theatre, and the challenges of ecological transition. Participants play their own roles in the year 2050, in a sustainable world, and tell the story of how they carried out their transition project. These stories are filmed as “interviews from 2050” and turned into short video clips used for Global Citizenship Education workshops, film-debates, and public awareness campaigns.

Overview of the project
The GOAL 2050 x Theatre of New Narratives project aims to create and share inspiring new citizen-led narratives and concrete solutions to ecological and societal challenges, through theatre workshops and collective intelligence.

The first three programs were conducted in Togo, Benin, and Côte d’Ivoire, bringing together 36 participants with gender parity.
Each participant imagined a project linked to a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
18 video episodes recounting their stories are currently in post-production, along with a documentary and a methodological film.
These narratives will be used in awareness-raising workshops as the project continues.
After a pilot phase in Togo in March 2024, the project expanded in January 2025 to Benin and Côte d’Ivoire. These programs led to a profound transformation among participants, strengthening their ability to take action in the face of climate challenges. By envisioning a positive future in 2050, they overcome eco-anxiety and commit to concrete action. An impact measurement strategy is underway and will continue until July 2025.
