Overview of the project

The project goal is to advance meaningful reduction in emissions caused by deforestation and forest degradation by pilot and Implement Niger Delta Forest for Life NAMA Support Project (NDFL NSP) in 5 communities to protect 10000 ha of forests and scale up across 9 states of coastal Nigeria to protect over 250000 ha and support over 200 households BY:
1. promote land use planning, to protect biodiversity and build climate resilience
2. helping the communities to set aside and conserve globally significant biodiversity corridors and sustainable management of Coastal wetlands and rain forests
3. to build the capacity of over 200 youths and women in the communities to conserve and restore ecosystems
4. Support with alternative livelihoods, such as beekeeping, Grass cutter farming, Snail farming and fish farming especially among forest dependent indigenous communities

Objective

NDFL NSP aims at adapting and mitigating impact of climate change by conserving and restoring Niger Delta Coastal Wetland and forests as well as to reduce poverty with alternative livelihoods
