A collective awareness among the population to change lifestyles in response to climate change.

• 70 Young Climate Ambassadors active across 11 municipalities in French Guiana.
• 30 ambassadors have already completed comprehensive training.
• Since 2024, more than 5 tonnes of waste have been collected through clean-up campaigns involving young people, local associations, and Climate Ambassador mentors supporting youth capacity building.
• More than 3,000 people have been reached through awareness campaigns and social media.
• The programme was invited as Guest of Honour at SIBCA 2025 and has been featured in television programmes, newspaper articles, and media interviews.
• Climate Ambassadors are now active in five African countries, contributing to the development of an international network of young people committed to ecological transition.

Our young ambassadors have improved their public speaking skills and are now able to communicate with elected representatives, partners and other stakeholders. Young people have received training on sustainable mobility, air pollution, biodiversity, the Climate Fresk workshop and climate change.

There is now a better understanding of the specific climate challenges facing French Guiana: coastal erosion, drought, floods and illegal gold mining. Young ambassadors are able to mobilize other young people through presentations in schools. They encourage eco-friendly behaviours and act as relays within their neighbourhoods, families and among their friends. YCAs are motivated and engaged in field activities; they feel useful and involved in building a better future for the next generations. / SDG 13

The YCAs will soon contribute to raising awareness of the PRACC (Regional Climate Change Adaptation Plan) of French Guiana.

Since the launch of the Young Climate Ambassadors Programme in 2024, the initiative has been financed through our own resources, with a small €10,000 ADEME grant currently being processed.
