Young People and Disability for the Earth

Conserv Congo regularly organises community awareness sessions, including screenings of educational films in local languages followed by discussions, to raise awareness of the links between wildlife trafficking, deforestation, climate change and community safety.

An initiative of Conserv Congo

Overview of the project

Jeunes et Handicap pour la Terre (Young People and Disability for the Earth) is a project currently in development that aims to include young people living with disabilities in environmental protection and climate change awareness initiatives. Driven by a desire for social and climate justice, this initiative aims to demonstrate that ecological commitment should leave no one behind. The project will soon take place in a botanical garden, where young people with disabilities will be invited to actively participate in tree planting and walking activities. This opportunity for gathering and collective action will not only contribute to local biodiversity, but also create a space where inclusion can take root in a tangible way. Beyond the environmental aspect, the initiative will focus on raising awareness. Discussions and testimonials will be organised to give a voice to young people living with disabilities, who are often absent from climate debates. Through their participation, these young people will become visible actors in the ecological transition and ambassadors for a commitment that is accessible to all.

Conserv Congo regularly organises community awareness sessions, including screenings of educational films in local languages followed by discussions, to raise awareness of the links between wildlife trafficking, deforestation, climate change and community safety. Conserv Congo also integrates climate messages into its sustainable development projects, where it promotes resilient agricultural practices, combats bushmeat consumption and encourages sustainable natural resource management. Through its youth programme, the organisation also trains young volunteers to become climate ambassadors, capable of spreading the message of climate justice within their communities.
