Overview of the project

frica Green Week is dedicated to the environment, climate, and sustainable development and takes place each year in different African countries around a central theme. The 2025 edition, focused on renewable energy and youth empowerment, was held in Koudougou, Burkina Faso.

The event aims to bring together a wide range of stakeholders — local communities, experts, farmers, NGOs, governments, businesses, media, students, and international organizations — to exchange, learn, and co-create solutions tailored to the continent’s environmental and climate challenges.

The program features conferences, workshops, and interactive panels on topics such as the energy transition, green economy, climate justice, and sustainable innovation; hands-on workshops, training seminars, and bootcamps to strengthen the skills of young project leaders; as well as exhibition fairs, field visits, and awareness campaigns to showcase local innovations, promote eco-friendly practices, and engage communities.

Africa Green Week also fosters continental networking and B2B partnerships, providing a platform to build collaborations between public and private actors and to stimulate green entrepreneurship.

Since its creation in 2023, the event has established itself as a hub for dialogue, promoting traditional knowledge and homegrown innovations, raising awareness of the impacts of climate change, and contributing to the development of sustainable and inclusive strategies.
